Fried Goat Cheese Balls with Texas Balsamic Drizzle
It seems safe to say that when something contains goat cheese, a lot of us are down to consume - no questions asked.
Goat cheese is the perfect creamy cheese, with a slight sweetness that is unmatched. Whether it's tossed in a salad, or atop a delicious tartine, goat cheese is a game changer in whatever recipe it's part of.
And when it comes down to perfect pairings, there is no better match than goat cheese, Texas olive oil, and balsamic vinegar.
With that power trio in mind, we've created the most mouth-watering dish: fried goat cheese balls. Delicious as they are, they're made even more scrumptious with a drizzle of our traditional balsamic vinegar!
Fried Goat Cheese Balls with Texas Balsamic Drizzle
Ingredients:
- 1/3 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
- 2/3 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 2 Tbsp. minced fresh chives
- 1 (11 oz.) log soft goat cheese
- 2 cups Sola Stella extra virgin olive oil, for frying
- Drizzle of traditional balsamic vinegar (or substitute with a flavor)
How to Make: A Step by Step Guide
Step 1: Prep Goat Cheese
First, take your goat cheese log, and separate into 24 tablespoons. Then roll each tablespoon into 24 small goat cheese balls.
Step 2: Mix Ingredients
In one bowl, combine flour and black pepper. In a separate bowl, whisk egg, salt and 2 tablespoons water. In a 3rd bowl, add panko and chives.
Step 3: Roll Goat Cheese
Next, you're going to roll each goat cheese ball into the following order of mixtures: 1st the flour, 2nd the egg, 3rd the panko.
Step 4: Prep Oil for Frying
Pour your two cups of oil into a saucepan on medium-high heat until 350 degrees F.
Step 5: Fry Goat Cheese Balls
In a few batches, fry your goat cheese balls for 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oil with a slotted spoon, and place onto a paper towel lined plate. Repeat until all are fried. Let cool slightly.
Step 6: Plate, Drizzle, and Serve
Put your goat cheese balls on a serving dish, drizzle with balsamic vinegar, and serve.
